  Acne Information

General Overview:
If you are suffering from acne, then there is good news. Your skin will still be wrinkle-free in the later years of life when your other friends, who cause you jealousy by their clear skin now, will be getting worry lines around their eyes.

As most people who suffer from acne as teenagers have oily skin, they get the advantage of active oil glands in their later years when the complexion starts loosing its natural elasticity. Another advantage of having acne is the care you are taking now of your skin and the attention you are paying to complexion.

Some say that it is an advantage to suffer from acne when you are a teenager, and have a clear complexion later in life than to have clear skin earlier, and have dryness and wrinkles as you grow older. Few people will remember or even know how you looked when you were 15.

Getting rid of acne does not need costly cosmetics. With simple, everyday toiletries and a strict cleaning routine you can have healthy, spotless skin. Remember, if you have acne, you have also got the best type of skin- oily skin- which although can be problematic in earlier life, has all the in-house support of maintaining its shine and glow.

Acne can be put in two categories. First there is facial acne, which can be described as just a bad skin condition. The second is when it spreads severely, and is caused by hormonal disturbance. This is when acne becomes a disease.

Acne is usually found on the face, upper back, chest and shoulders. These are all body parts where oil glands are more active and skin has more pores. These pores are the holes where body hair comes through a very narrow canal in the upper layer of skin. The oil glands around these pores secret an oily substance called sebum. This sebum squeezes through the pore to come out on the surface of the skin. At times, this opening gets choked with excessive amounts of sebum (which is caused by hormonal imbalance), or with grime collected over our skin. This is a feast for the bacteria colonizing our skin surface. The bacteria attack the canal to get inside, and the bodyís immune system sends white blood cells to fight them off. In the fight of bacteria and white blood cells, skin tissue gets injured and causes swelling, pain and redness. This causes further infection and pimples and lesions crop up on the face.
